Wearing Art
My husband and I called West Africa home for a period of years. It was there that my eyes were opened to the wonderful and colorful world of textiles. The wax prints, called batik, and other design of the African fabric designers are seemingly endless. There is not a pattern or color combination they haven't considered. So with a gifted sewing machine, endless supply of fabulous fabric and no patterns, I boldly entered the world textiles. I cut and sewed with abandon! I delighted in the endless possibilities and the challenges of creating works of art that could be worn.
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
